Award winning artist and art instructor Bobby Carr is known throughout the Southeast for his finely rendered works of art.  His preference for the era of impressionism is revealed in each of his paintings by his use of light, color, and composition.  From his preferred sketches, he created polished works in oils pastel, and watercolor that represent his talents and extensive education and experience.  Bobby has spent his career sharing his life through his own art as well as sharing his knowledge with students of all ages.  For more than fifty years, Bobby Carr has created remarkable and sensitive works that have reflected his life and relationship with Elmore County and especially Wetumpka, Alabama.

Bobby Carr, son of William H. Carr and Edna Weatherby Carr, natives of Franklin County, Alabama, was born near Vina, Alabama in Franklin County in 1929.  His father, a rural mail carrier, passed away in March 1965 and his mother a homemaker died February of 1980. Bobby had one sister, Estella who was 14 years older than him.  She married Raymond Smith and they had two children Eleanor and William.

Bobby Carr stated, “I first became interested in art through the influence of two of my cousins that were very creative but poor.  You know, it was the depression days.  Actually they were double first cousins and the nearest thing to brothers that I had.  They taught me how to sketch scenes and draw.”
